About

Department of Chemistry

Chemistry, a branch of science dealing with elements, forms the building blocks of everything. Engineering requires applied science, and chemistry is the center of all science. Chemistry is a basic knowledge all engineers should uphold in their careers to manage the scientific conquests the world has to offer. In the future, global problems and issues will require an in-depth understanding of chemistry to have a global solution.

Chemistry in engineering imparts the knowledge on the basic concepts of organic, inorganic, physical, analytical chemistry, nanoscience etc. Engineering Chemistry serves as a bridge between basic sciences and engineering subjects.

If a software engineer possesses the fundamentals of chemistry, it becomes easier for them to develop software tailored to specific tasks. Electronic sensors and bio-sensors, vital for detection and diagnosis, require knowledge of chemistry for fabrication and design. The selection of a suitable fuel by a mechanical engineer requires consideration of its exhausts, where knowledge of chemistry proves invaluable. To meet the manufacturing requirements of specific ceramics or refractories for suitable purposes, a civil engineer must possess knowledge of chemistry.
The department of chemistry aims at imparting quality education and giving individual attention to the students to make them globally competent, thereby achieving the overall development of the students. It involved in teaching chemistry at the first year of engineering course of all branches. The department has well equipped laboratory. The department has qualified, dedicated and experienced faculties.
