Computer Science and Engineering is the foundational discipline that underpins the entire digital economy. Our program goes beyond mere coding; it is dedicated to the rigorous study of computation, algorithm design, and system architecture, equipping students with the intellectual framework to manage and control complexity.
We train engineers to design and implement robust solutions in areas critical to the 21st century, including Advanced Data Structures, Operating Systems, Network Security, and High-Performance Software Development. CSE graduates are the architects of the future, driving innovation across diverse sectors—from developing resilient Cloud Computing platforms and groundbreaking Web Technologies to creating intelligent systems for Aerospace, Finance, and Robotics, effectively charting the course for global digital transformation.
The Computer Science & Engineering program is structured as a rigorous four-year, eight-semester degree designed to deliver comprehensive technical mastery. The curriculum is meticulously balanced, integrating core theoretical concepts with extensive practical application.
Students engage with a robust suite of subjects, including multiple modern programming paradigms, foundational pillars like Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and the Theory of Computing, alongside essential hardware-software integration courses such as Microcontrollers and IoT. Furthermore, the program features dedicated modules on cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and DevOps, ensuring our graduates are immediately relevant to the evolving demands of the global tech industry.
The distinguished faculty of the Computer Science & Engineering department, currently led by Dr. Lakshmi Durga, are committed pioneers in the field. Our primary mission is to cultivate original, analytical thinking and encourage an exploratory, research-driven approach to learning from the foundational stages of the program.
Acting as dedicated mentors, faculty members actively guide students toward realizing their professional goals and attaining academic excellence. Through a structured and robust mentorship program, MRIT ensures regular, personalized interaction, enabling the proactive identification and nurturing of each student’s unique strengths and potential growth areas.
Current Role: Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Mysuru Royal Institute of Technology (since September 2024).
Experience: Over 22 years in academia, including leadership roles as HOD and Associate Professor at various institutions.

Ph.D. (VTU, Belagavi): Faculty of Computer & Information Sciences.
Ph.D. Thesis Focus: “Automating Analysis of Handwritten Documents for Graphotherapy.”
Specialized Skill: Certified Graphotherapist.
M.Tech: Computer Network Engineering (BITM, Bellary/VTU).
B.E.: Computer Science and Engineering (Rao Bahadur Y. Mahabaleswarappa Engineering College/Gulbarga University).

Patent Filed (2021/Published 2022): “Graphotherapy-Based Handwriting Analysis System…”
Publications: 5 SCOPUS-indexed international journal papers, 4 conference papers (2 IEEE/Springer, 2 National).
Key Research Interests: Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning.
